Program Overview

The Master of Arts in Bible and Theology is a graduate degree for those whose calling is to explain Scripture accurately to other people. Students advance from survey to exegesis, working with the biblical languages at a working level, learning the history of interpretation, and integrating biblical theology with the church's doctrinal confession. The program is built for teaching pastors, Bible institute faculty, curriculum authors, adult education directors, and lay leaders who carry the weight of a regular teaching ministry. Two commitments run through the degree. The first is that exegesis governs doctrine: students learn to establish what a text says before deciding what it means for the church. The second is that doctrine protects exegesis: students test their readings against the creeds and confessions rather than trusting private insight. Courses move from hermeneutical method through Old and New Testament theology to the systematic synthesis required to teach with confidence, and the capstone project takes the form of either a substantial exegetical thesis or a full teaching curriculum with written theological rationale. Graduates are equipped to lead a teaching ministry, train other teachers, publish for the church, and pursue doctoral work.
