Program Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Theology at Abide University is a first full degree in the Christian faith: what the church believes, why it believes it, and how that belief shapes a life. Students read Scripture from Genesis to Revelation, trace the doctrines confessed by Christians across twenty centuries, and learn to speak about God with both accuracy and reverence. The program assumes no prior academic training in theology, only a willingness to study carefully and to be formed by what is studied. Coursework moves in a deliberate order. Students first learn to read the Bible responsibly, then follow the development of Christian doctrine through the creeds, the Reformation, and the modern church, then turn to the questions congregations actually ask about God, Christ, salvation, suffering, and hope. Alongside the academic work, students serve in a local congregation, because theology learned apart from the people of God easily becomes an argument rather than a confession. Graduates leave able to teach a class, lead a small group, write with clarity about Christian belief, and continue into graduate study with a secure foundation.
