Program Overview
The Corporate Executive Juris Doctor (C.E.J.D.) in Law and Theology prepares executives to govern organizations under the law and before God. Corporate leaders answer to boards, regulators, and courts; Christian leaders believe they also answer for how they use power, treat people, and handle what has been entrusted to them. This program equips executives in companies, foundations, and faith-based organizations to bring both accountabilities into the same decisions. The program's corporate core covers organizational form and limited liability, fiduciary duties and board governance, and compliance, risk, and internal investigations. The specialization adds theological reflection on the corporation and its purpose: stewardship and the theology of property, covenant and promise in contract, authority and accountability in organizations, and the debate over whom a corporation serves, from shareholder primacy to stakeholder and mission-driven models such as the benefit corporation. Students learn to justify a decision to a board in legal terms and to themselves in moral ones. Graduates serve as chief executives, general managers, trustees, and senior officers in companies and faith-based organizations. The capstone applies corporate law and theological ethics to a real governance decision in the student's organization. The C.E.J.D. is a professional credential for executives; it does not qualify graduates for bar admission or the practice of law.
